    A Tradition of Arts Education for the Greater Decatur Community

    For over 100 years, ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½â€¯University’s School of Music has provided quality music lessons for students of all ages from Decatur and surrounding communities. Today, that tradition continues as highly trained faculty and upper-level ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½ students teach in their areas of expertise. Our programs have expanded to include not only Private Lessons but such programs as the Decatur Youth Symphony Orchestra, Decatur Youth Chorale, Rap-U, First Gig, Rock University: ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½, ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½â€¯University Community Cello Choir, ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½ Community Jazz Ensemble, ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½ Community Percussion Ensemble, ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½ Group Piano Class, Music & Movement, Group Guitar and Ukulele Classes, and Summer Camps in the arts. We continue to add programs that represent the vast offerings of our College of Fine Arts.

    The goal of the ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½â€¯Community Arts Academy is to provide art programming to our community that fosters an appreciation of and participation in the Arts while instilling a lifelong love and enjoyment of the Arts. &²Ô²ú²õ±è;

    The Mission of MCAA is to foster a lifelong love and appreciation of the Arts by providing performance learning opportunities for students of all ages in music, theatre, dance, media, and visual arts and cultivating a companionable link between the university and the community. &²Ô²ú²õ±è;

    MCAA seeks to provide equitable community access to arts education opportunities in support of: &²Ô²ú²õ±è;

    • artistic literacy and wellness; 
    • innovative activities that promote creating, performing, and responding;
