  • Performance Learning

    Performance Learning puts students in scenarios with real risk and reward. Our Accounting students do the work of their future career each semester — developing budgets, assessing financial risks and controls, preparing individual and corporate tax returns, using financial databases to inform decision-making, and navigating professional, ethical and regulatory issues. In their junior year, our majors work with VITA, a tax preparation service for qualified households, and as seniors they perform an audit for a local nonprofit organization.

    Professional Credentials

    Accounting students are strongly encouraged to pursue one or more of the three designations relevant to the profession:

    » Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

    » Certified Management Accounting (CMA)

    » Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)

    Working with an advisor, students can choose an appropriate path to meet the requirements of the desired certification, which could include a fifth year of study to earn a ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½ MBA.
