At Tabor School of Business, students engage in competition as early as first semester, freshman year. Participating in competitions on and off campus helps students hone their skills at public speaking, creating a business plan, and giving a pitch.

What
A business plan describes the fundamentals of a new business, a new market strategy, or the launch of a new product or service. What makes ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½â€™s business plan competition different is that it is only open to first-year students. These first-year students are immediately applying the concepts they are learning in the classroom. Having this experience as a first-year student helps students make academic decisions and get a glimpse into the business world!
Who
The competition involves a presentation of the projects by the students to entrepreneurs from the local business community. The competition takes place in the fall semester every year. We ask that you help us nominate which team you think should receive People's Choice.

MU Pitch
ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½ University Pitch (MU Pitch) is a pitching competition co-organized by the Center for Entrepreneurship and the Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization (CEO) ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½ Chapter. The purpose of the competition is to allow all students on campus to learn and practice the art of pitching. Pitching is a short and insightful presentation of a business or project idea with the purpose of raising funds, establishing partnerships, gathering resources, or any other reason to convince somebody of how good the idea is. In entrepreneurship, a pitch can last 30 seconds to 15 minutes. At MU Pitch, students will make a 1–3-minute presentation to a panel of judges. The idea can be a business idea, a social project, a sustainability project, or a personal dream. The best pitches present great ideas worth investing in with a high potential to generate great returns and outcomes for the business or society. The best ideas receive a seed fund of $500 to kick off the idea. The awards come from the generous Larry & Ann Geddes Haab endowment fund. The competition happens every year at the end of the Spring Semester and is open to all students on campus.
Off-Campus
One competition – three independent contests – from September through May. For 28 years, the MIT $100K Entrepreneurship Competition has been bringing together students and researchers from across MIT and Greater Boston to launch their talent, ideas, and technology into leading companies. The competition is run as a series of distinct, increasingly intensive contests: Pitch, Accelerate, and Launch.
Each contest focuses on developing specific founding skills, and for each semi-finalist contender the MIT $100K brings together a network of resources, including mentorship from venture capitalists, serial entrepreneurs, corporate executives, and attorneys; media exposure; prototyping funds; business plan feedback; and discounted services. Additionally, more than $300K in non-dilutive awards help these new ventures accelerate.
Future Founders immerses youth in experiences that inspire and empower them to create their own opportunity. We believe this leads to a generation more determined, hopeful and equipped as they engage the future. To date, our programs have served over 30,000 youth. The Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA) is the premier global competition for students who own and operate a business while attending college or university. Nominees compete against their peers from around the world in a series of local and/or national competitions in hopes to qualify for GSEA Finals. Founded in 1998 by Saint Louis University, GSEA is now an Entrepreneurs’ Organization program.
The annual Real Elevator Pitch Competition invites college students to enter SLU’s twist on the classic elevator pitch competition for a chance to win a grand prize. The submission window is open from late October through mid-November. A panel of judges will select the top 12 pitches, who will move on to the final round held in early December at the One Metropolitan Square building in downtown St. Louis. The 12 finalists will pitch to 30-plus wealthy judges while riding up and down on 12 elevators.
The Milken-Penn GSE Education Business Plan Competition (EBPC) is open to applicants worldwide and offers a tremendous opportunity to entrepreneurs and investors alike. With a rich history of success, the EBPC has awarded over $1,000,000 in cash prizes since 2010, and winners and finalists have gone on to raise more than $135 million in additional funding. Through its dynamic ecosystem, the EBPC celebrates meaningful innovations that address persistent and emerging problems in education.
A unique annual competition for undergraduate students around the world to pitch plans for businesses, products or services that make a profit while also benefiting the environment, the community or a specific population. Presented by the Neeley Entrepreneurship Center.
Cleantech UP, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy, is a premier opportunity for university students to tap into entrepreneurial ambition and passion for change. Students are asked to submit a business plan for a clean energy startup idea, 8-10 finalists will be chosen, and one team will win a $50,000 grant to further develop their idea.
